Top 10 Lists

I am a list person, that's how I organize my life and the stuff that rolls around in my brain.  For a long time I was obsessed with David Letterman's top 10 lists, until they became more and more lame.  That being said I have a couple of top 10 lists of my own.  Some are just for fun (i.e. worst date, things to get you kicked out of church etc).  Some are lists to brighten rainy days, some are future thoughts/plans etc.  One of my lists is the top 10 compliments I have received.  One of the compliments on this list was from a woman that I have always looked up to, she told me that I was a great friend.  It was simple but it meant a lot.  Another compliment came from Brock and another from my Dad.  I was able to add a compliment to my top 10 list this week, which bumped off the "You look like Sheryl Crow" comment.  It came from Preston's doctor.  I took Preston in for his 12 month check up and after we were done with the appointment he said "Whatever you've done for the last year, keep doing it.  Preston is a happy healthy boy."  That meant so much to me.  The last year has not been easy and it was so nice to have the doctor tell me that all my efforts have not been in vain.  It's funny how the lists have evolved as my life continues.

The Best Sunday Ever ...

Brock and I headed to church today.  We really like our ward, they are super nice.  So, we were invited to the newcomers meeting.  We were sitting there and Brock was getting ready to introduce us and then poor Mr Preston starts throwing up.  He threw up all over the floor.  I picked him up and ran to the bathroom.   He had a mess all over him, and poor Brock had it all over his pants.  It was really the best introduction to our new ward that we could have, really.  Preston ended up throwing up once more today, all over my face.  I felt so bad, that my sweet baby felt bad, I started crying as I carried him up stairs to the bath tub.  Preston wasn't crying, just his Mom.  It's a good thing that we have a huge bathtub that both of us could get cleaned up in together.  He was able to keep dinner down and he was playing like a crazy after dinner.  So we're hoping we're over it ... Let the parent initiation continue.

2011 Re-Cap

Last year a lot of "stuff" happened for us.  We are still recuperating from some of the chaos.  Some of it was a last minute decision, sort of.  Moving out of the townhouse and moving in with my parents was not planned, that's for sure!  Then if you would have asked me about building and moving into a new house by the end of the year, I would have looked at you cross eyed.
  • Preston was born
  • We rented out our townhouse and moved in with my parents
  • Brock started a new job
  • I quit my job
  • We built a new house and moved into it

We ended up the year tired but really happy about the big events of the year.  Brock and I talk regularly about how we would like a more mellow year for 2012 ...  We'll see how that goes.

{There is supposed to be a picture of the new house here, but we can't find the camera battery charger.  So, I thought that I would post this anyway, just to be a goof.  We will eventually get pics up, of the house ... we just have to find the stinking charger.}

Preston Turns One!

Preston turns 1 year old on the 17th and I can't believe it.  My sweet little boy is now a crazy, smiling, fun, stair climbing, food throwing, walker!  Here are some pics to show how he's grown ...

The Best Christmas Ever

Time for a little update, or so I"ve been told (thanks Jen)

We closed on our new house on the 15th of December and it was a great feeling.  The hour that we closed we had some workmen come in and do hardwood floors downstairs.  We wanted to get all that mess done before we moved in.  We thought we were so smart and weren't too worried with Christmas around the corner.  So, we tried to move in the following Thursday, the only problem was that it decided to snow like CRAZY.  We ended up moving everything in on Christmas Eve-Eve (the 23rd).  It was a good thing that my oldest sister and her buff sons were here visiting because we wouldn't have made it without them.  It was super crazy, but it all worked out great.  It was so exciting and still very exciting.

We ended up spending Christmas Eve at Brocks Grandparents house.  Preston is very good at opening presents, better than we thought we would be.  He likes to rip the wrapping paper into tiny pieces of paper.  Then went around and visited family on Christmas and went to church.  The church program was a lot of singing and Preston LOVES to sing.  He spent a lot of church standing on Brocks lap trying to sing a long with the choir at the top of his lungs.

I was able to spend Christmas night in my brand new amazing bath tub.  It was the best Christmas ever!

Preston got a drum for Christmas and he loves to run around half naked.  It was a good night for Mr Preston

My parents had a train under their Christmas tree, and he loved it!
