Living with Grandma and Grandpa

Grandpa and Preston hanging on the couch.

Brock and I moved in with my parents in April.  I was going to go back to work from home for a couple weeks and my leave was over, so I thought that moving in with my parents to help with Preston would work well.  We also want to have more kids and to do so we need a space, therefore we needed to save some money, Grandma and Grandpa VanWagenen were king enough to open their home to us.  We rented out my town house in Denver and moved to the 'burbs' with my parents.  It has been a lot of fun, and since my work has asked me to stay until they find my replacement, it's worked well being here and having such great babysitters. We've started looking at houses and neighborhoods that we would like to move into, and only plan on being here a year max.  It's fun to see Grandma and Grandpa have fun and play with our fun loving little boy.

The Solid Food Experiment

Preston has been growing like a weed and was sleeping through the night pretty well, then one week he would wake up starving twice in the night.  So, in an effort to get him sleeping through the night again, and since he is 4 months, we ventured into the solid foods.  Below are the pictures of the event.  He has become quite a good eater, loves all fruit and the sweet potatoes, and is now sleeping through the night!

Here we are getting acquainted with the spoon.  He took one bite and smeared it all over his cheek

This is after 2 bites and nothing was getting in his mouth, all on his face

Here we are, all done and sleepy from a full tummy

Preston is 4 Months old

On May 17th Preston turned 4 months.  At his appointment on the 17th he weighed 17 pounds, and is 27 3/4 inches long.  Healthy boy :)  He is a fun loving, sweet boy that loves:
  • Snuggles
  • His floor gym (best $15 buck I spent)
  • To hear himself yell, grunt, growl, laugh
  • To take baths (he gets excited when he can hear the water and smiles as you put him in the tub)
  • To kick like a crazy guy
  • To be tickled on his tummy
  • To be sang to (I can't sing to him while I"m feeding him because he tries to sing along)
  • Stroller rides in the Bob jogging stroller
  • Sit up and see what ever is going on
  • Rice cereal, apple sauce, prunes, sweet potatoes, (really we haven't found anything he doesn't like to eat)

We love him and love watching him grow.  Below are pictures from his 4 months birthday ...

Sitting up, but very distracted by his feet

He's a smiley button

He really is that chubby :)

SLACKER ... Yes I am a slacker

So much has gone on, we moved in with my parents (so we can buy a house and have room for more kids), Brock got a new great job, and I've been trying to quit my job, my back went out from my growing boy ... the fun never ends.  However, I will be posting to make up for the slacker-ness and the chaos that has been going on.
